Presenting an air lift pump that can pump water up to 2 metres (6') high above the water level using a regular air compressor. this air lift system has been tested with 25l/min, 35l/min and 60l. In an attempt to promote and improve the economics, safety and security of our aquaponic systems we started developing efficient airlift-pumping technology that will replace both water pumps and air pumps that were dedicated only to air stones.. An air lift can lift water, but it's a bit limited in how high it can lift it. it would be nice if an air lift could lift air to a greater height, because then we could create a really low energy aquaponics system in a conventional (grow bed above fish tank) arrangement, and still get the desired flow.. Some ramblings for you to consider: i use an airlift pump to 'lift' water from the bottom of my pool to the top. used this way, the airlift pump is efficient for pumping water (zero head). the air pump i use to drive the airlift pump, in this situation draws 35 watts. it pumps in excess of 3,000 lph.. When designing your own aquaponics system, one of the most important things to consider is energy use. here’s the energy usage of the small backyard aquaponics garden my dad and i built a few summers ago. the 35 watt aquarium pump switches on and off every 30 minutes using a double outlet timer. the 5 watt double outlet air pump is on continuously..
